Heritage Signs & Displays Makes A Mark On DC

4-11-18 Charlotte, NC – While Mark Zuckerberg was testifying before Congress, regarding his social media company, Facebook, outside on the east lawn of the White House the Advocacy group Avaaz created a display to bring attention to what they say are hundreds of millions of fake Facebook accounts spreading misinformation on Facebook. The displays were 100 life size cutouts of Zuckerberg wearing a T-shirt with Fix Fakebook” as the slogan.

Avaaz contacted Heritage Signs & Displays on Friday, April 6th regarding the rush order of the cutouts. With expedited services and logistics, Heritage Signs & Displays produced the 100 cutouts of Mark Zuckerberg and delivered to DC on Sunday for the Monday demonstration.

Charlotte TV station WCNC learned of the connection of Heritage Signs & Displays to the national attention the demonstration was garnishing and had an AP Award Winning reporter Kendall Morris interview Heritage Signs & Displays President Joe Gass, “To get a request for a hundred of those at one time is quite a large number. We weren’t quite sure what they were going to do with those.”

The Fix Fakebook custom cutouts were printed on a Coroplast substrate, therefore technically not a cardboard cutout as being referred to in many media venues, Coroplast is an excellent option for quality and value. They were made cutouts to accept a wooden stake, used to plant the cutouts on the lawn, even with mild winds, the 72” Zuckerberg’s stood tall.

"We do a lot of things every day and maybe even more profound things, but this really just went crazy,” Gass said.

Heritage Signs & Displays originated in Leonardtown, MD in 1977 and celebrated their 40 Year Anniversary in 2018. The company expanded to Charlotte in 2008 and relocated their Maryland location to Waldorf, MD (just outside the Capitol Belt) to better serve the DC market.
