Who We Are

Heritage combines nearly 50 years of service with local accountability across Washington, DC and the Mid-Atlantic.

7 Multi-Location Branding Specialists - Heritage Signs & Displays

A Company Built to Earn Trust

Organizations in Washington, DC often operate in environments where presentation, timing, access, multiple stakeholders, and public visibility all matter. Heritage Signs & Displays serves those organizations as a veteran-owned, family-led sign company focused on turnkey branding solutions for workplace interiors and event environments.

Our role is not simply to produce signs or graphics. We help clients move from goals and approved ideas to physical branded spaces through environmental graphic design, one dedicated Project Manager, production, fabrication, and professional installation. That connected process is especially valuable when a headquarters, association, nonprofit, agency, professional organization, campus, venue, or multi-location program involves many decisions and people who need to remain aligned.

Heritage was founded in 1977, but longevity is useful only when experience improves the way a client is served today. What we continue to protect is the belief that trust is earned through clear communication, responsible recommendations, careful execution, and follow-through when the work becomes complicated. Those expectations guide how Heritage approaches relationships across Washington, DC and the Mid-Atlantic.

Local Accountability Across Washington, DC and the Mid-Atlantic

Heritage's Mid-Atlantic model begins locally. Washington, DC and Arlington provide client-facing and field support for the DC metro, including discovery, site surveys, field coordination, installation planning, professional installation, follow-through, and nearby support. Richmond provides genuine local field presence for Central Virginia and strengthens Heritage support toward Hampton Roads and Tidewater.

Production is a separate responsibility. Heritage's Waldorf, Maryland facility is a Mid-Atlantic production resource staffed only by production team members. It primarily supports Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, Maryland and Baltimore, and wider Mid-Atlantic work, but it is not a sales office or showroom. Keeping those roles clear helps clients understand where relationships, field work, and production support actually happen.

As projects expand, Heritage can connect local resources through the broader network. Local site-level relevance leads, followed by the immediate metro or market, the Mid-Atlantic region, and the full Heritage network when added scale or continuity is useful. The purpose of the network is to strengthen local execution, not substitute for it. That distinction keeps the operating story accurate and useful.

One Project Manager Across Complex Stakeholder Groups

Washington, DC projects often involve more than one decision-maker. Leadership teams, facilities personnel, marketing departments, property managers, security teams, architects, designers, event teams, and outside partners may all affect the outcome. Without continuity, important context can disappear between conversations.

Heritage's One Dedicated Project Manager System gives the client one consistent point of coordination while connecting the appropriate Heritage resources behind the scenes. The same Project Manager can preserve approved design direction, brand standards, site findings, communication history, production expectations, scheduling decisions, and installation planning rather than forcing the client to rebuild that knowledge at each stage.

This approach is especially useful for multi-location organizations. Heritage can support locations across the Carolinas and Mid-Atlantic through local offices and teammates while one dedicated Project Manager maintains the program history. Each site can adapt to its own dimensions, access, architecture, audience, facility condition, and schedule without losing the standards that make the brand recognizable. Continuity helps multiple stakeholders work through one accountable Heritage relationship instead of a chain of disconnected handoffs.

Serving Organizations Whose Spaces Carry Meaning

Washington, DC and the Mid-Atlantic include organizations whose physical environments often carry unusual weight. An association headquarters may need to welcome members and support governance. A nonprofit may need to communicate mission and recognize donors. A professional workplace may need to convey credibility and clarity. A conference or venue may need to guide large groups while supporting sponsors and a larger program.

Heritage helps translate those needs into physical environments without turning every project into a catalogue of products. The better question is what the organization needs people to notice, understand, feel, or do. From there, signs, graphics, displays, privacy treatments, recognition features, wayfinding, and other branded elements can support a coherent experience.

That outcome-first mindset is part of our identity. We want clients to feel that Heritage understood the responsibility behind the project, not merely the materials required to produce it. In a market filled with organizations built around public service, membership, advocacy, professional expertise, education, and community impact, respecting the meaning behind the message is as important as executing the physical work well.

From Printing Discipline to Physical Brand Implementation

Heritage began as a printing business in 1977. Printing taught us to work carefully under deadlines, manage details, reproduce another organization's identity accurately, and understand that finished work carries the client's reputation as well as our own.

Starting in 2009, Heritage made custom signs, interior graphics, workplace branding, and event environment solutions an increasingly defining focus. Organizations were asking for more complete physical brand implementation: workplaces that communicated purpose and culture, recognition displays that honored people and supporters, graphics that improved privacy or direction, and event environments that helped audiences understand where they were and what mattered.

That evolution required Heritage to connect creative and technical disciplines instead of treating them as separate transactions. Today, environmental graphic design, project management, production, fabrication, and professional installation work together through one Heritage-managed process. The materials and methods have changed considerably since our earliest printing years, but the discipline behind the work remains recognizable: listen carefully, protect approved information, manage details, respect deadlines, communicate clearly, and stay accountable for the finished result.

Veteran-Owned, Family-Led, and Grounded in Service

Heritage's leadership has been shaped by military service, family responsibility, faith, and a long-term view of relationships. After completing six years in the United States Navy, Joe Gass joined the family business full time in 1988. The habits of preparation, accountability, teamwork, discipline, and follow-through reinforced through that experience continue to influence how Heritage approaches leadership and client service.

Family leadership adds a stewardship perspective. We want to make decisions that strengthen the company over time, invest in people, preserve relationships, and create opportunities for future leaders rather than manage only for the next transaction. Faith guides us toward humility, gratitude, integrity, and service.

Those principles are practical in Washington, DC and the Mid-Atlantic. They affect how we listen when stakeholders disagree, how we communicate when a schedule becomes difficult, how we respond when site conditions change, and how seriously we take the responsibility of representing another organization's identity in a workplace or event environment. Service is not separate from performance; it is part of the standard by which the work should be judged.

Our Purpose, Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Core Values

Our purpose is: As a veteran-owned business, we strive to be a valued resource that honors God by serving our clients and community with excellence.

Our mission statement is: To create value by bringing imagination to life through collaborative and effective brand implementation.

Our vision statement is: To be a leading provider of innovative visual solutions that engage, inspire, and transform.

Our five Core Values are Innovation; Teamwork and Collaboration; Value the Individual; Exceptional Service; and Standard of Excellence. In the Mid-Atlantic, those commitments often show up when projects require patience, coordination, judgment, and respect for several people who each own a piece of the decision. Heritage should ask meaningful questions, share information clearly, protect the approved direction, and stay responsive as access, scheduling, or stakeholder needs evolve. We want the client experience to demonstrate that excellence includes both the visual result and the way people are treated while reaching it. The values matter most when they become visible through dependable behavior rather than repeated as corporate language.

A Collaborative Partner to Client and Professional Teams

Heritage may develop environmental graphic design concepts directly with client stakeholders, or we may work from approved direction created by architects, interior designers, environmental graphic designers, experiential design firms, branding agencies, workplace consultants, marketing teams, and other professional partners.

Our value is not based on claiming every discipline. It comes from understanding the physical implementation role Heritage is responsible for and executing it well. We can help translate communication goals into signs, graphics, displays, dimensional elements, recognition features, and other branded components that can be responsibly produced, fabricated, managed, and installed.

When another professional team controls the wider brand, architectural, or interior direction, Heritage works to protect that intent through practical material decisions, production knowledge, careful fabrication, project management, and professional installation. Collaboration works best when roles are clear and accountability does not disappear. That matters in Washington, DC, where projects may involve several professional teams or property stakeholders. We want our contribution to make the larger project easier to coordinate, more faithful to the approved direction, and stronger when people experience the finished space.

Nearly 50 Years of Gratitude and Forward Motion

Heritage approaches its 50th anniversary in 2027 with gratitude for the people and organizations that have trusted us along the way. We have learned through growth, difficult projects, changing technologies, new markets, and the daily experience of working with clients whose missions and workplaces matter deeply to them.

The next chapter is focused on becoming more capable without losing the relationships and accountability that made growth possible. We continue to invest in people, leadership, production resources, systems, local field support, and the coordination that helps one project record travel with the work from early discovery through installation.

For the Mid-Atlantic, that means strengthening genuine local support while using the broader Heritage network intelligently. For the company as a whole, it means preparing the next generation to lead with the same emphasis on service, stewardship, collaboration, and excellence. Our gratitude for what God has allowed us to build is matched by the conviction that Heritage is still becoming. Approaching 50 years should make us more useful to the clients and communities we serve, not simply more established.
